Who may attend TeacherFAIR?  Anyone who is eligible for state of Florida certification.  Visit the Florida Department of Education (DOE) website - http://www.fldoe.org for more information. 

I am looking for an administrative position.  Should I attend?
No

Is there any fee for attendees?
No

Is online registration required?

I don’t have a teaching certificate. Should I attend?
  Yes, register to attend if you meet the eligibility requirements for the state of Florida temporary certificate in the subject area you want to teach.

Where do I park? 
Plenty of free parking is available at all three locations.

Are the locations handicap accessible?
Yes

Do I need to complete the online instructional application to Miami-Dade County Public Schools' (M-DCPS) Instructional Staffing Office first? Yes - http://jobs.dadeschools.net/teachers/index.asp


Do I need to visit and be cleared by the M-DCPS Instructional Staffing Office before I attend?  No, but we need to have your online application and all required documents, received in Instructional Staffing before you attend the TeacherFAIR. This is very important because the TeacherFAIR is a HIRING EVENT. If you want to be interviewed and selected for a teaching position, you must be ready for onsite hiring. If you have not submitted your instructional application yet, please complete the online application and follow all associated directions prior to attending the TeacherFAIR https://extranet.dadeschools.net/wtwa/

Submit all related instructional application documents outlined on the website, including a copy of your social security card, official degreed transcripts, and reference forms by Friday, June 6, 2008 to:

In an effort to process all official documents in time for the TeacherFAIR, please submit them no later than Friday, June 6, 2008.

What if I am hired at the FAIR?  What will I need to do at this time?  Fingerprinting will take place at the TeacherFAIR for applicants interviewed, selected, and hired at the event.  (Note: If you were already fingerprinted by M-DCPS within the last year it is possible that you will not need to be printed again.  We will determine this at the time of your hire as this will require an individual review of your application in our Applicant Tracking System.)  If you want to plan ahead in the event you are hired, and you know you have not been fingerprinted, please bring a blank money order for $71.00.  If you are not hired, you can always use the money order elsewhere.

We will send you on a drug test.  (Note:  If you were already drug tested by M-DCPS within the last year it is possible that you will not need to be tested again.  We will determine this at the time of your hire as this will require an individual review of your application in our Applicant Tracking System.) If you are directed to go on a drug test, an authorization form will be generated with a two-day expiration.  The drug test is a free of charge urine test and you will be able to select from several locations to take the test.

Is there a location where I can purchase a money order if I am hired at the FAIR? No


Do you sponsor H1-B Visas? No – You must be eligible to be employed in the United States without sponsorship.

What should I bring to TeacherFAIR? 
Bring multiple copies of your resume and any other documentation that proves you are eligible for state of Florida certification (e.g. a copy of one of the following: your Statement of Status of Eligibility from DOE, copy of teaching certificate, passing test score of subject area exam, degree-conferred transcript). 

Will there be interviews? 
Yes, principals will conduct onsite interviews for those applicants that are eligible for state of Florida certification. The purpose of the TeacherFAIR is for principals to interview, select, and hire teachers.

Should I bring my portfolio? 
Principals will find this helpful but it is not necessary.

What should I wear? 
Professional attire is suggested.

How should I prepare for the TeacherFAIR? 
Complete online registration at http://teacherfair.dadeschools.net/principaldays/mpdform.asp

Also make sure you complete the Miami-Dade County Public Schools online instructional application to the Miami-Dade County Public Schools Instructional Staffing Office and apply for certification with the state of Florida Department of Education (DOE).  Review the list of participating schools and send your resume to principals in advance. Express interest in scheduling an interview while at the FAIR. Check the school list frequently as it may change.

I am an experienced teacher.  Should I attend the TeacherFAIR?

With so many schools at the TeacherFAIR, how will I remember what each one tells me?

We have noticed that many attendees carry around either a note pad or note cards and jot down comments after each contact. You must be organized. The TeacherFAIR goes at a relatively fast pace. Remembering names and keeping business cards will go a long way in your job search.

I cannot attend the TeacherFAIR. Is there any way to distribute my resume?
  Regretfully, this is a one-time event and we have no way to distribute your resume. You are always encouraged to follow up with schools directly and/or email your resume to recruitment@dadeschools.org. A member of the Staff Recruitment team will respond with alacrity.
