Who may attend the MEET THE PRINCIPALS' DAY?

Anyone who is eligible for state of Florida certification may attend.

  Please bring the following to the event with you:

  • social security card
  • driver's license
  • proof that you are eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
  • degreed transcripts (with eligible subject area noted as the MAJOR) if official transcripts have not already been submitted to the staffing office
  • two completed reference forms or letters from current or previous supervisors if they were not already submitted to the staffing office
  • Proof of application to the state of Florida Department of Education for teacher certification:
  • Completed online application - https://www.fldoe.org/edcert/apply.asp
  • Payment of fee - $56.00 for each subject area (There will be a price increase to $71 January 1st, 2008.)
  • Submission of degreed transcripts to the Department of Education
  • Teacher Training Program Certificate of Completion for Courses 1 - 3

What do I bring?

Bring multiple copies of your resume. If you are not already in our ATS then please bring the following with you:

10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Is there a fee for attendees?

No.

Is there any registration?

Yes, online registration is REQUESTED.  You will receive email confirmation after we receive your online registration.

I don't have a teaching certificate. Should I attend?

Yes, register to attend if you meet the state of Florida certification eligibility requirements.

Do I need to complete and submit an instructional application to Miami-Dade County Public Schools' (M-DCPS) Instructional Staffing Office first?

Do I need to be cleared by the M-DCPS Instructional Staffing Office before I attend?

No, but if you are bringing all required application documents with you, and are offered a position by a principal, your documents will be reviewed and cleared at the event before the hire can take place. This is very important because this teacher recruitment event is an interviewing and hiring experience for serious candidates ready to report to work immediately.

Do you sponsor teachers on H1-B Visas?

No, however, we have a collaborative agreement with Visiting International Faculty (VIF) for teachers who may be sponsored with the J1-Visa. Visit their website https://vifprogram.com/apply/ for more information.

Will the principals post their vacancies?

Yes, and only principals who have openings and are available to conduct interviews and initiate hires at the event will participate. (vacancy list of participating schools)

Will there be interviews?

Yes. The purpose of the MEET THE PRINCIPALS' DAY is to find teachers for all remaining instructional openings and acquaint attendees with the various schools. Only candidates eligible for teacher certification in the subject area needed by the school and available for immediate hire (if selected by a principal) will be permitted to attend and interview.

Will I be hired?

WE WILL HIRE CANDIDATES ON THE SPOT IF ALL DOCUMENTS ARE IN ORDER.  No applicant will be eligible for hire until the instructional and certification application procedures are completed.  No applicant can be hired without an eligible subject area.

What is the cost of fingerprinting? Should I bring money with me?

Plan ahead just in case. Fingerprinting will take place at the event at the time of hire. You will need a $71.00 money order for fingerprinting.

Should I bring my portfolio?

It would be helpful but not necessary.

What should I wear?

Professional attire is suggested.

How should I prepare for MEET THE PRINCIPALS' DAY?

Online registration is requested at https://teacherfair.dadeschools.net/Principaldays/Index.asp. Register online and be sure to submit your application for certification to the state of Florida Department of Education (DOE). Review the list of participating schools and send your resume to principals in advance. Check the school list frequently as it WILL change.

I am an experienced teacher. Should I attend?

Most definitely.  This recruitment day is for teachers with any level of experience in education.

What happens next?

If you are an eligible candidate and the principal wants to hire you, the hiring transaction will take place on the spot. The only follow-up will be for you to complete the fingerprinting, drug testing, and I-9 process.
